I took my 1997 Avalon xls to autozone and had it scanned and it came up PO443, Guy said it kinda sucks for me cause that could be lots of things to do with the EVAP system and it being an import he really couldn't help much. Any of you know of anything going on with our cars that throw this code? Thanks for any help.
Thanks,
Matt
P0443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction
All the codes pulled from an OBDII car should have the same meaning behind the number, most of the time anyway.
When did the check engine light come on? A lot of EVAP related codes are because the fuel cap was not tightly screwed on. Check that and if it is, then the code should go away on its on in a day or two

It's been on for a few months. It has gone off a couple of times for a few days at a time thou. I did try changing the gas cap and it still does it.
Where's it located, still getting used to where things are on the engine. Is it a pricey fix?
Thanks
Circled in red. Mind you, yours should be right next to the EGR valve, not against the firewall like mine. Should have 3 vacuum lines up top, 2 on one side, one on the other, and also one big vacuum line on the bottom going to the EGR valve.
Not sure where it located on my Avalon. On my Camaro it's under the Intake manifold, requiring it to be removed.
The EGR and it's modulator valve are both quite expensive, so I would have someone give you a positive diagnosis before attempting it. You might end up spending a lot of time and money for nothing.

Thanks bro I'll get him to check things out and hopefully find the cause. Btw what year camaro do you have? I have a 2001 SS convertible that's my 3rd child lol.

Mmmm... positive displacement supercharger! Very nice!
Must be a bear to change the spark plugs.

FYI - continuously overfilling the gas tank (keeping on clicking the dispenser handle past initial full cut-off) can and will lead to probs in the evap sys.

YES, very nice! How did you do that? I mean, did the factory install it or was it DIY? If DIY, Was the part purchased O-T-C or did you find it at the breaker yard?
(LOL with fuel approaching $4.00 just for regular - what am I thinking?)
Damn I think it's gotta be something with my wife filling it up past the cut off. I know I've done it a few times. So what's the fix on it if it has something to do with fueling the car?
Thanks
