Too many threads read with the question: "Where do I route wires?!" So I was drivven off the cliff, more specifically my chair, and to my driveway with my camera I went.
1996 Is the first generation, so the idea should be the same, if not very similar to years 95-99.
I'll coverr how to run wire from the engine bay, to the interior, and to the trunk. Its easier than you think, or if its not, I'm always open to work.
01 Check it out, this is what it looks like when you open your hood.
You can see the path of wire in this one pretty easy. Also note the "big 3"
02 Moving on, we are greeted to the firewall. On the passanger side of the car we find our firewall opening for the cars wiring harnesses. Its in a very nice location too. (dont even ask me about the Impala or Taurus I recently did

) This is where your power wires and any other wire you desire will enter the cabin of the car. You can either (carefully) poke into the rubber boot and fish your wires in or push the boot to the side and fish your wires though the hole, but be sure to insulate the wire from the metal hole.
03 Going inside the car, learn to twist your body to get under the dash. It helps to have a friend at this point, as one of you will poke and fish the wire into the firewall opening, the other will look for it. Then you will grab it and pull all the wire you need.

And heres another picture of the same step, may be more usefull. (You'll notice that I just disconnected my factory amp and wired the speaker outputs to my headunits.)
03-04
04 Route your wires accordionly, heading to the door. Here you will find a bunch of wires! and right below them you find a channel to route your wires though. (untill you run out of room) Either fish the wire though the channel, or cut the tape holding the channel shut and open it
Repeat this process for a while, as theres multiple cabble channels. You'll have fun getting the seatbelt trim back on.
And some more:
05 You'll be at the back seat now, where the wires will go up behind the seat, and though a little hole. I suggest using some solid wire or a coat hanger to get though the whole first, tape your cable to it, and pull it out though the trunk. Maybe its because my car is old and went around the world over 8 times, but I can pull part of my seat out an inch or two which is enough to work around.
06 Finaly, going into the trunnk and pulling the carpet back you'll find your cable (though you would already have it if you used the coathanger idea) Pull the remaining wire out.
Make your final connections, verify all is working properly, and then put all the trim pannels back on. For my main power run is 6 gauge cable (though its just as big(ifnotbigger)than 4 gauge cable.) And ofcourse, fuse all power runs and dont let your car burn to the ground.
