1997 Toyota Avalon speaker size?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew the speaker size or sizes for this car. It has 4 speakers. I went to many sites and they give me different answers!

half of the posts on the forum are about speakers/stereo specs how-to's and pictures.

4" door speakers all around.

The speakers are 4" in the doors. I assume you have an XL? What are you planning on doing with the speakers? Are you running an after market head unit?

If upgrading your speakers is all you are intending to do to get nicer sound, I'd leave this option alone. This is based on personal experience as I was running an Alpine headunit and decided to just upgrade the speakers. The sound had very little improvement as the speakers lack lows.

IF you're considering an upgrade you could do better in bass and mid clarity with something other than the average aftermarket offerings.

If the enclosure size works out you should take a look at this home design as a full range 4 - everything that passive filter does could be accomplished easily by most HU's today.

Take a look at the f4 - http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=lineup

That driver is available here -

Or you could take a look at this build with an included tweeter -

I just finished installing 5 1/4 inch speakers in all four car doors.
The front DEFINITELY can not fit bigger speakers without destroying the bracket
The back maybe can go to 6 1/2
Either way, to get higher than 4 inches, you need to cut the bracket holes bigger. I bought a cordless rotary tool and it was not strong enough, I had to use a small hand saw. If you can get a CORDED Dremel or something like that, it will shave off at least half the time.

(But try your hardest to conserve as much shape as possible in the brakcet as otherwise you will lose sound quality and defeat the purpose of doing this in the first place)

I got 5.25's in there with a corded dremel and some foam for a tiny gap towards the front of the car

I also did that, "I just finished installing 5 1/4 inch speakers in all four car doors."

I meant, it can not fit bigger than 5.25 in the front, but you can prob get 6.5 in the back
