Unhappy Urgent Help Code P0300/303/306

Hello everyone;

I am running into a strange problem which has been disussed in the forum however no one has give the solution.

I have a 98 Avalon which was running great until sunday. I stopped at a rest area and all of a sudden the car started hasitating like jerking. Opened the hood and nothing was leaking. When i started driving again my Check Engine light blinking and then after a while became solid. However i have lost pick on the car and it is consuming a lot more gas. Also the hesitation is still there and no pick, but once i reach the speed of 60 everything becomes fine, but the check engine light stays. Today i went to Autozone and they ran the diagnostic toll and gave me the print outs of 3 codes
P0300
P0303
P0306

All of them are basically the same "Cylinder misfire detected on cylinder 3 and 6.

Can someone please tell me what could be the problem. The mechanics i showed to (2 diffrnet mechanics) one said it needs tuneup and the other said i need to change the catalatic converter. Didnt make sense.

I just got the tuneup done 3 months ago and used Denso Iradium plugs.

Please please help. I have 150,000 miles...

Did your tuneup guy use aftermarket parts or dealer parts?

Seeing as how plugs 3 and 6 share the same coil if i am not mistaken, check the coil/plug wire.

TMack409 all the parts were bought by me from Toyota Delarship and just the plugs i bout from Autozone.

Another update. Just few minutes ago i got another alarm for my back lites not working. Could this be an electrical issue.

P.S. I replaced the battery myself only a month ago.

I would check the battery voltage; tap on to the connectors at the battery, not the battery post's themselves. Measure static 12.6 volts and then when running 14.2volts with no accessories running.

Have you modified the wiring in any way [with subwoofers etc etc]?

The plug wire from front to back is an easy and inexpensive change.

TMack409: Check the battery voltage13.7 is that Good or Bad?

Hajoca: What is this wire called that you are referring to connection from front to back?

I am going to get all the plugs replaced tomorrow morning. Any recommendations as to which one i should be using.

13.7 with engine running is not too good. 13.7 with engine off is a bit high.
I would use OEM plugs from dealership.

It is common to have a coil go bad, as said cyl 3 and 6 share a coil. This is the coil closest to the oil cap{#6} Stick with factory parts on this one!

LOL. "Use factory parts" seems to be a wise, recurring theme here
