Gen1 Valve Cover Replacement

I need to replace a valve cover and the repair facility is quoting me $320 for the part. Is this a reasonable price? If not, where is a good online store to order the part from? I've been trying to shop around, but neither Autozone, Advance Auto, or Napa have the part and most hits from a google search are bogus.

TIA,

Preston

I know that I got a valve cover gasket from the dealer for 18 dollars to fix an oil leak. Why do you need a new valve cover, did yours 'spl0de?

Well...

I went the gasket route, per the repair shop, and oil was still leaking, so they put in another new gasket, and then they concluded that the valve cover itself was fux0red. So, For reasons involving what turned out to be a bogus warranty from the dealer, they machined down the existing valve cover as a temporary fix.

Now I get vibration from the gas pedal and through the shift lever, which I hypothesize is from the re-machined valve cover resting against the rocker arms--it's aggravating b/c the engine was silky smooth when I bought the car and prior to the work done and now it feels like the POS Pontiac I got rid of.

I don't think the repair shop necessarily misdiagnosed the oil leak, since they're temp fix did indeed fix it, and I was speaking directly with the manager and he seemed honest. But I want this vibration to go away, and and for over a month I've been trying to keep the engine below 2000 RPM since that seems to mitigate it.

So, thoughts? Valve cover leads?

Camry (with V6 option) and a few other models used the same engine. Try a Wikipedia search of the models using this engine. Then visit a few auto yards.

For the record, I called the Toyota dealership in Grand Rapids, MI and they have the part listed as a special order item for $297.82

Edit: I just picked one up from a local auto yard for $25.
