Wind noise

How common is the wind noise on the front doors. I just test drove a 98 and seemed like more noise then I would have expected. Doors all lined up correctly and title is clean. Maybe it just time for some new seals.

My 97 also has front door wind noise. There was a TSB on the problem and I recall the fix was adding foam panels in the doors and some new beefed up weatherstripping around the doors. I've seen some posts that just switched to the newer weatherstrips and that seemed to solve the problem. Haven't messed with mine mostly because I don't do a lot of driving on highways and just put up with it when I do.

Yes, the weatherstrips by the window corner wear out n pull out. If you press them in while driving on the highway theirs a tremendous difference when u push it just a tad bit. golfinator, would u happen to know where i would be able to purchase new weatherstrips for the avy? \

thanks.

Don't have a source for the strips, other than the dealer.

They redesigned the window weatherstripping for 98 to solve the wind noise problems that developed in all 95-97 models (it was curved in a corner rather than a discretely angled before the fix) so if you have the problem in a 98 something else is wrong...maybe someone was pulling at the weatherstripping, or it is broken somewhere.

After a 3.5 hour drive today, and pushing on different things around the window, it is the weather stripping in the corner of the window. If i push it in the noise goes away. Now to see how i can fix it.

bump for information on this. I'm going to order replacements from the dealer. If anyone has a link to the TSB or P/N, that would be awesome.

Wind noise

Don't have the TSB on the weatherstripping kit (if there is one). TSB #BO 00397 is for Wind Noise Repair Kit, which appears to be (6) Caulking Sponge Sealant pieces approx. 297mm x 150mm ea. that stick to a piece of sponge inside the door. TSB reads that "this kit , when used in conjunction with procedures outlined in the Wind Noise Service Information book ( P/N 00401-42978 ), specific Service Tips and Technical Service Bulleting, should enable effective wind noise repairs." Maybe that's where the weatherstripping is mentioned. Got his TSB back in 8/00 and never bothered to fix the noise, but my noise is definitely coming from the weatherstip.
