Gen 1 Avalons sold in Japan?

From what I read on the web that the first gen Avalon was built in the US and Australia and sold here and Canada and Australia. The second generation Avalon was sold as the Pronard in Japan. I was on youtube and found first generation Avalon commercials in Japanese and the cars were RHD. I just thought this was interesting and wanted to share

very cool, id like to get my hands on a right hand version of this car, that would be very sweet, and certainly something different.

Agreed, but what I found that was interesting is that from what I read, according to wikipedia and the Avalon history post in this forum, the car was never sold under the name Avalon. the only Avalon that was sold in Japan but pulled due to bas sales was a second generation Avalon re badged as a Toyota Pronard. I guess the documents are wrong.
