98 radio options

The original tape deck and radio has worn out, and i would like to replace with something facotry. Has anyone found a good replacement? Aftermarket head units seem to invite theft more then I would like.

Or maybe someone has one they would like to get rid of.

Update, i found a headunit from the local salvage yard for $30 that works great. The hard part was finding one with the correct connect since i have the 7 speaker setup. The salvage yard also had a couple trim pieces i was missing. It has been a successful week.

For anyone in Nashville, N&S auto has tons of Toyota parts.

I could not find any single din, had to go with the double and loose the pocket beneath. Check your local salvage yards, i was shocked they had 8 avalons, and tons of camrys. My radio came out of a 4runner

does anyone know where i can find out what face number (or part number) stock radio will fit the 7 speaker xl? ive found a few, i just dont want to drop the money and have it not fit/work.

and if i get one with the antitheft, but dont know the vehicles VIN it came from, can i still find out the pin number and get it unlocked ?

and sseaman, a single din radio is the smaller one with the pocket underneath because it essentially only takes up one space, the double din radio is the one that takes up two spaces, and as you found out, its hard to find.

I was willing to give up the pocket, i have seen the add on cd changers that take up one din on ebay but them seem to be expensive.

After working with the salvage yard some, it seems any of the toyotas with 6 or 7 speakers have the same plug, i can email you a pick of what it looks like. Mine came out of a 4runner limited, some camrys have the additional speakers also.
