Radio Control

Oooh, what a crafty title to suck in more views. !

Going to my car the other day I go to use my factory remote to unlock the doors, well this time it didn't. I only have one remote for the car, 3 button.

First on agenda was checking the remote, I knew it was funky because the buttons are held on with nice gaffers tape (:roll) However I check the batteries, checked the switches/pads for proper operation, all check out. I even found this thing at my Advance Auto that checks your batteries by its ability to pick up the RF from the remote, and it emited the RF dandy.

I recall reading previous threads about programming additional remotes, so I adventure in the trunk to find the light failure module, and radio control module. Maybe on the brink of insanity the electronics lost the code. So I go for the way to program a remote ( 95 Avy - adding replacement remote ) and follow the procedure of jumping the programming pins together, I even took the one pin to a direct run to battery negative, I got no response from the car. I blissfully tried to set the remote up, no luck for me. Opening both radio and failure modules showed the circuit boards to be in nice condition, no burnt marks or cracked anything. (a little corrosion on the lamp module, but thats unrelated to this, radio control is actually coated in epoxy, nice.)

For my current options I see either crossing my fingers and putting in a new control module from a donor car, or putting in an aftermarket system. If its anything in the wiring I'm pretty owned.

Thanks for all that can bear my writing.
