Well, I've been nursing it for awhile....having trouble getting it to start incrementing once it was zero'd out...
It stopped incrementing totally today, so I tore the instrument cluster out and removed the speedo assy itself. I appears that a tiny gear(s) assy broke off from its fragile mount - which was butt up against the trip odo numbers rollers.
I am pretty sure I can remove the arm that held the gear(s) assy. But I wonder what my chances are going to be - finding one in a breaker yard?
Or would you just replace the speedo assy altogether?? I hate that my mileage would then no longer be accurate if I did that but - a small price to pay compared to trying to reset the numbers - it's pretty tamper proof...
Oy, at 191,950 miles, who's counting anyways?
