In the conquest to convert every little lamp to LEDs, I finally came to my floor shifter. The adventure for this part was not fun, so I thought Id post on how I took it apart and put it back together to save somone else the torment. After an hour of torment I found out that the metel rod that is connected to the button to take it out of park has a plastic, keyed tip on it that must face the rear of the car in order to fit back together. Because it can svivel, and in my case make my life hell at 8PM

Ill let a couple pictures do the talking from here.

These two screws holds the handle to the metal tube. However be careful, because the way the button is loaded, when the screws are removed and the handle is lifted the button WILL shoot out with the spring, besure to catch it or tape it to the knob.

Remove the four screws that hold in this big black box. One will be hard to get at. Theres a blue connector down there that disconnects for the light in the shifter and the overdrive button, this needs to be disconnected and removed in order to free the assembly.
