Chance of low idle and sometimes stall 1997 XL

Hello,

Sometimes when I start the engine, it will go to a low idle around 250-400 rpms and if i dont rev it it will eventually stall. Sometimes i have to rev it a little bit and sometimes very hard to get it to calm down and idle correctly. I have done the seafoam in the crank case, gas and done 2 treatments through the brake booster and it has not made a difference at all. I have had this problem for quite sometime and I was wondering if anyone else has had that problem and what they did to fix it. I am thinking about getting some seafoam deep creep and spraying the throttle body and all to see if that would fix the problem but I also think it could be the egr valve? Anyways, if anyone has any ideas that would be great. Another thing is when I get on the freeway and go on cruise control its very hard for me to get more than 300-320 a tank when driving 80% on the highway on a tank of gas. Im guessing there is something that is causing less mpg and was wondering where the best place to start is. I have noticed that using the seafoam helped improve it a little bit but it never hurts to see if someone else has better insight.

Thanks everyone!

A stuck open EGR can cause rough idle, may also be the IAC valve.

The Camry with V6 option uses the same engine. Suggest a TN search to find posts on cleaning both valves as this subject as been covered many times.

Yeah, I recall hearing a lot of idle issues related to the IAC valve and a quick cleaning helped/removed promblematic problems. I dont know how that sentance ended either.

Took apart the intake and cleaned the throttle body as best i could without pulling it off and didnt seem to improve at all. Im guessing it either needs to be deep cleaned or it could be the egr valve...?
