'97 power seat switch

I need an 8-way power seat switch for the driver's side. Does anyone know if the switch in the 1st gen Avalon (mine's a 97) is the same as the Camry from the same time frame? Avalon's aren't that plentiful in salvage yards and I'm having a heck of a time coming up with one.

My problem is my power seat no longer will go backward, only forward. I replaced the seat track w/motor but that didn't fix the problem.

thanks,

Chuck

The Camry and Avalon are almost the same car. Suggest you check out Camry's having the same power seat.

Chuck,

Any luck (no pun intended) with the switch interchange? My '97 Avalon needs a new switch because the seat's back adjustment will go backward, but not forward. I know the motor is good because (it goes back, and) I reverse jumpered the wires at the motor to raise it forward as I pressed the switch in the go-back direction.

And can someone tell us how to remove the switch from the seat? Does the seat have to be removed from the car to get to it?

Ah ha, I have the same problem on the passanger side, and no one ever stops complaining. :P

I would imangine the plastic knobs and such pop off of their switches. Under them are probably screws holding the plate on.

Assuming Toyota didnt wire it retarded I'm tempted to just replace it with a normal dpdt switch. Just some more SUPER CUZT0M MODS, yo.
