Engine Mods?

Anyone got a good idea for engine mods of a 96 avy? I know its unheard of, but i want to make it cooler. I already changed the starter since it died on me (the new refurbished one makes my car sound turbo-ed on start up).

Ooo....I should get a starter for myself as well. I would go about doing the normal intake/exhaust. I did a custom dual exhaust for my 98 Avy. I am in the process of getting a short ram. You can get some on ebay for 35 shipped. Just make sure you look for a Solara....no one lists them as fitting the Avalon. Our intakes are cheap they're basically just 2 feet of straight 3" tubing.

Where did you get that starter? I would love to get a sound like that. haha

Almost forgot to let you in on another ebay secret. I found some decent looking headers and y-pipe for a Solara that should fit the Avalon (looks like exactly the same stuff) for under 150!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exhau...Q5fCarQ5fParts

I have a custom dual so I could care less for the y-pipe...but for 120 plus shipping, it's still a good deal for the headers. I'll prolly also use the flanges from the y-pipe to replace my current rusty ones.

The weirdest place of all: Pepboys

The refurb starter takes longer to crank and start the engine (about 1-2 second difference from the original one), but the sound it produces right after makes up for it.

I wish I could do something with my Avy. The headers look great but knowing me, I dont have the time to install and somehow if I did it myself I'll blow the car up.

I've never modded my car before (besides the HID lights and LED interior.. and that one time I seafoamed it and had to get new gaskets because the high revs made the old gaskets leak more than they should have)

Well, look for one of them small muffler shops. You know, the ones that will make put in an exhaust with no catalytic. That's what I do. Shop around me said they'd do it for around 70 bucks.

By the way, you wouldn't happen to be able to get a recording of the sound, would you? My car's starter is working perfectly fine at the moment (not sure if it's original or replaced) and it sounds like it spins at 6000RPM at first (that's an exaggeration), so maybe mine already got a new starter.

Yo mmejia, did you ever get those headers onto your avalon? I was thinking of buying some and getting them on my baby. Just want to make sure they fit.

Cheap ebay headers? You're better off with stock.
