Help They Broke Into My Car!!!!

hey guys ive got a 1996 toyota avalon XLS w/ factory installed keyless entry.
Last night someone broke into my car and just tore the interior up....Good news is all i had in the car was $4 bucks so they got shafted...
thing was
I LOCKED MY CAR, I LOCK MY CAR AS SOON AS I OPEN THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR
THEY ENTERED MY CAR THROUGH THE PASSENGERSIDE LOCKED DOOR!!!
no broken windows which means either my car unlocked itself or they picked the lock.....
im looking into getting a new security system now
A viper or python system
but i need to know if anone else has done this and if there are any complications in installing this systemmmm

thanks a million
JIGG007 this ones for you

Did it have an alarm? Cause mine came with a Karr keyless remote entry/alarm system. My suggestion is that you get an alarm system that keeps the car from starting up when broken into. Best to keep stuff out of sight in the car.

Oh, thanks for the recomendation, but there's many more people on this forum that have the actual experiance of installing an alarm.

What will help greatly if you have a basic understanding of electronics, mainly diodes and relays.

If you lock the doors now, and the passenger door doesn't lock, then this is not a problem that a new alarm system will fix. Either an actuator, door clip or something else is funky in the door. Try replaying the scenario and see why the door opens.

As Jigg007 states was the passenger door actually locked?

They could have also used a slim jim. Anyone have a key, anyone have a grudge against you.

Well, I'm sure a python system shouldn't be that hard as that is what was in my car when I got it. Works pretty well.
