Remote Start Install Questions - 98 Avalon

Hi all,
I'm installing a remote start/alarm/keyless entry on a 98 Avalon XLS. So far I have the locks hooked up and working and the alarm installed and working. I need to hook up a few more things in order to get the remote start working.

Remoter start wires checklist
Starter wire- Hooked up
ACC wire- Hooked up
ON wire- Hooked up
Start sensing wire- Not hooked up
Engine Kill Relay- Hooked up
Brake Sensor wire- Hooked up
Handbrake wire- Not hooked up

Currently I am getting no voltage out of the starter wire from the brain unit box when the remote start is activated. I am assuming it is because I have to hook everything up or have things hooked up incorrectly. I hear clicking going on in the brain unit but I am getting no voltage out of the wires.

The start sense wire is supposed to be hooked up to the HIGH VOLTAGE WIRE (that is how it reads in the instructions) which leads to the spark plugs. Anyone know what wire on the Avalon this is? I also can't find the wire for that parking brake sensor.

I do have an immoblilzer bypass (not yet installed) but I can't even get the engine to crank so that is not the problem.

I also am having an issue with the trunk pop. The wire from the brain unit sends a +12V charge when activated. The trunk switch activates by grounding out. Do I need to use a relay in order to get this feature working? Thinking wire + and to relay (87 and 86). + wire from brain to switch to 30 and wire from trunk switch to 85. Does this sound right?

Thanks!
-Ryan

Not sure I understand the situation.

The parking has a switch to activate the light on the dash. If a push type foot brake the switch would be up under the dash. It is activated by foot pedal arm movement. You should be able to see the switch.

If hand lever brake the switch is at the base of the lever, will need to center oval section around the shift lever (pries out) and possibly the center console. And easy job.

For the trunk a relay would work. The 12V from the brain would activate the relay. The relay switch would ground out the trunk latch wire. Your other switch should still work as it will just be another ground.

Not sure on the high tension wire issue as this seems to be a strange hook up. Typically the wire goes to the igniter or tach.

If you have the directions or a brand name perhaps there is a phone number to call for help. Do a Google search.

toyomoho,
Thanks for the reply.

I was just wondering if anyone knew the wire colors off hand.

The start sense wire tells me to hook it up to the HIGH CURRENT wire which I guess could also be the 'ignitier' as you called it. Where should I look for this wire?

Also, any idea why I'm not getting voltage out of the starter unit when activated? Does it only work if everything is hooked up?

I already looked in the instructions and there is no number to call. I did a google search and only found the product not any parent company. I contacted the company I bought it from and they said they do not offer tech support only sales and I should consult an installer.
