ECU plugin??

1996 avalon.have check engine light on,trying to plug code reader but can`t finde where is that plugin. Can anyone point me in, please.

generally speaking, it is just under the dash under the steering collum or just to the left of it. but thats for a OBD II. i'm not sure if 96 is OBD II or not.

that`s what i thought before posting this thread.....found nothing there. This is friend of mine car and i just trying to help him with mi OBD2 code reader but can`t fide that plug in. In mi BMW and GM it is just right there,under dashboard on driver side but I coud not finde it anywere in this TOYOTA.

On my 95, the ODB2 connector is right above the fuses behind the fuse door, I'm not sure if this would be the same on a 96. There's also another diagnostic port under the dash, but I'm not sure what you'd use to read it.
