Mobil Clean 5,000

Anyone ever used this mobil brand of oil? "guaranteed protection" for 5,000 miles is printed on the 5 qt jug. I might change from Castrol to this if it lives up to its' promise.

I use it in both Toyota cars that I have. In the avalon I have used it for around 60,000 miles now changing the oil at the 5,000 mile mark. I really like the oil, but don't get me wrong it is not Royal Purple or Red line, that is high performance oil.

that's because those are synthetics while mobil clean isn't.

Why not just use synthetic oil and be assured you have done your best to prevent sludge and wear?
After it is done, Will you fret and worry about the few dollars more you spent for the best type of oil and protection you can buy?
A mechanic once told me "the cheapest and best part you can install in any engine is 'synthetic oil'"
Don't screw around,... buy synthetic and be done with it.

From a simplicity standpoint, using synthetic might be for some people who really just don't want to mess with frequent oil changes. I, myself, am a little old school and like to see and examine the rest of the underbelly of the car every 3-5K so that maybe I might see something obvious that may develop into a bigger problem later. It's the one thing I know I can do myself, and I actually look forward to it.
If my back ever gives out though, I'll probably think about switching to synthetic too.

Yup, I have used it. It comes out just as black and dirty looking as any other oil I have run through this car in the 45K miles I have owned it.

I have no complaints or compliments about it. I don't get obsessive about my oil as others and don't oil analysis, etc.

I got it in sale with an oil filter, so I bought a couple oil changes worth and saw no change in performance with it. I also ran it in my old truck with high miles and it did fine in the truck too.

Here is my basic rule of thumb, with oil (which you should take with a grain of salt since I am no bob the oil guy).

Any quart of new oil is better than the old oil currently in your engine! Its basically that simple.
