Unwanted thumpin 96

Does anyone know or have a thumping coming from th rear of their 96 Avalon? I have replaced just about everything you can think of. I have had my wife drive me around in the trunk with no back seat or fuel sending unit cover. This noise comes from undrneath like the fuel tank in loose, but does not appear to be. The only thing in the suspension that is original is the torsion bars themselves. It sounds like the spare tire is just bouncing around...

Have you checked the exhaust system?

Replaced bushings today and some noise gone, but not all. I have determined that the thumping in the rear is coming from the fuel tank.

Our '99 had a thumping or knocking noise in the front and back. Replaced a myriad of pins and bushings and now knocking is gone.

Replaced:

Front sway pins.
Rear sway pin.
Sway bar bushings.
rr stabilizer bushings and bar control (?)
Left control arm bushing.

Noticed an slight improvement in handling too.

Down the road I will probably upgrade the struts (KYB) and sway bar bushings (Energy Suspension Poly) to tighten it up. Not used to driving something so loose.

I also have replaced all the swaybar bushings and have done one pin...the noise has seemed to have gotton worse. Not sure what to do, but it is hardly noticeable when cold out and gets worse as temp rises.
