door lock button doesn't lock

I have a 95 with no remote locking. When I press the driver's side lock button to lock nothing happens. Unlock works fine. Pressing lock on the passenger door locks all the locks as it should. I took the door window/lock component out. 12 volts is where it should be to lock and unlock. A continuity check from the lock terminal on the connector to the lock/unlock switch showed open (no continuity). I jumpered the lock terminal on the connector to the lock terminal on the sliding lock/unlock switch, positioned the switch to the lock position and it locked all the doors. However, with the whole thing assembled and the jumper in, when the switch is positioned to lock and springs back to the center position the doors lock, then unlock. I'm thinking there is a latch circuit on the controller circuit board but I have no idea which components make it up. It would be cheaper for me to replace individual coponents rather than buy the whole controller board from Toyota for which they probably want an arm and a leg. Any help here would be appreciated.

The most common cause of door and window problems is the wiring between the drivers door and chassis breaking due to ongoing door ussage.

I agree. Check the wiring first because I have changed that thing before and it sucks your money like a black hole.

edit: and make sure that the wiring doesnt get messed up when u take the control unit off and on. That usually messes with the wiring too.
