its going to be a total loss, but ask your insurance carrier about owner retention of salvage if its not branded with a certificate of destruction, you can put her back on the roads. :-) was it still drivable? Avy is in great shapt btw. and none of the glass even broke. be sure to cover the exposed metal on the quarterpanel, it will rust pretty quick fyi.

Thanks everyone for your concern and replies. Yes we are pretty much okay except for some muscle and back pain;... we are recovering. My daughter had x-rays & nothing is out of sorts.

The impact stopped our car dead in the street, reversed it's direction and spun us around about 210 degrees all in about 1 to 2 seconds;... i do remember being airborne; and I don't have a pilots license.
The car has been totaled out by the insurance co; there is a lot of buckling that the photo doesn't show; but after beating some of the sheet metal away from the tire, it is sort of drivable but it pulls to one side. Too bad, it only had 130,000 miles on it and was garaged and well taken care of it's whole life.
I am very very thankful and grateful we are only bruised & sore, I sometimes drive a little old 91 Honda hatchback, it scares me now to drive it, it will be up for sale... I need some metal around my family.
Now I am looking for another comparable Avalon or Camry.

Sad to see that happened to a well cared for car, but at least you're all right. Probably for the best for it to be declared a total loss since that level of damage will leave any vehicle with funky squeaks, squeals, and poor fits after repair. Does make you want to cry when you're baby takes a hit for no damn good reason.

I T-Boned a gal who pulled out without looking from a stop sign last March. She got the ticket
Just got on the brakes so had to nail her at least 25mph.
Took out my right fender, front bumper and grill. Hood.
97 xls with 117k and the ins. wanted to total my ava and give me $6100, but was able to get it approved for repair.
Now I hear strut plate noises 6k miles later.
But I still love driving my ava anyway and its still on the road and looking good once again
Yes, I always have my EXT switch on. Love the power

P.S. I now see that gal riding the bus instead of driving (I am a city bus driver) so am having the last laugh

Update: The body repair guy missed the A/C condensor as it was slightly rubbing on the raidiator (a/c still works).
After 3 months since repaired, 4 holes devoloped in the radiator and bars stop-leak no longer helped so had to get it fixed.
$200 extra, was not too bad of a bill

T-Boned?
My beloved Avy after being t-boned. My son pulled out in front of someone he thought was turning but was actually going straight. This car is for sale...

Some details:
The title is clean. I did not have comprehensive on the car so no insurance payout - it was my son's fault so I am eating the entire cost. It hurts everytime I walk out to the driveway - I loved this car.

'95 XLS with 144K actual miles.
Leather interior
Premium sound with 10CD changer in trunk.
Basically has all options for 95 except heated mirrors and seats.

The car is effectively totaled. I have had it to 3 different body shops and all say the same thing. The driver's door will not open. The passenger door will. The B pillar is pushed up against the driver's seat, so that the seat is stuck at its current setting.

The car runs and drives fine, but is throwing a "P0773 Shift Solenoid (E)" code, which it has been doing for about 6 months. Solenoid is actually working fine. Resetting it only keeps it off for a few miles.

The registration ($115) and biennial smog are due at the end of this month. I took it for a smog test and the emissions are fine, but they wont pass it due to the above code. I'm not willing to throw the money into fixing the smog issue when the car is totaled and I was only going to drive it for about 3 more months anyway.

So I have a totaled Avalon that is perfectly drivable that the registration is due and won't pass smog as is. Everything works in this car, except the driver's door and window...

First person that shows up with $1,000 cash can drive it away anywhere they want to go. Unless you want to work with the smog issue, its best that it leaves California (car is located in Sacramento). Buyer will receive a bill of sale saying they are taking it with no smog cert.

Engine alone is worth the asking price.

Are you willing to ship it? Part it out? A parts car Avalon would be great.. the damage isn't bothering too much for parts that I need. Interior is fine right? Want to work out a price?
