My Avalon got broken into yesterday

In a Walgreens parking lot at around 5pm, it was still bright out and it was a small crowded parking lot!!!

My Escort 9500i and Garmin Nuvi 350 are a thing of the past and my insurance wont cover it even though I have comp.

Just finished putting in my new $65 junkyard window, my hands are greasy and bleeding from broken glass, it really sucks.

I'm fed up with this, this is the second time my car has been smashed and grabbed in 8 months!

I orderd this in 5% rear and 35% front (front tint is illegal in Illinois so I had to keep it light (watch the video at the bottom).

I'm also ordering this once I get paid, these things combine should solve my problem, I hope.

I feel your pain! When I lived in Chicago my VW got broken into several times. They broke out the window, as well as crow barred a hole into the sheet metal of the door. I got an alarm and never turned it on, but the flashing red light really slowed them down.

However, here is a long term solution. Move down here to Tennessee. I keep my car unlocked with all kinds of shit in it. GPS, XM, nice replacement head unit, sunglasses, change in the ash trey, air pump, extra jack, etc in the trunk, and there are no worries.

We also don't lock the doors on our home too.

Sure its a little more expensinve than a new alarm, but very effective!

A sign of the times, best to hide anything of value.

Used to install the detector above the sun visor and hard wire it up inside the side trim. Unless the visor was dropped it was impossible see even when sitting in the drivers seat yet worked fine. Or install with a velcro mount and hide it under the seat when not in use.

Words to live by! It sucks big time, but you have to get anything of value out of view or you're screwed.

I'm going to visor mount for sure when I get a refirbed Escort 8500 X50, Escort is selling them direct for $150, you cant beat that. I'm gonna miss having a GPS chip to prevent false alarms though... When it happened, i didnt care about the window or the Garmin, but that radar detector was like my pride and joy, saved me so many times with out bothering me once.

At least the police made an effort, amazingly they dusted for/took prints, pictures, and took a broken rosary that fell off the guy's hand for evidence. In Chicago all i got was a police report and a have a nice night.
