Gas door will not open

My gas door on my '98 Avalon was getting picky on when it wanted to open. Today it stopped poping open at all. I checked the ends of the cable and had to put the red end back in the slot on the end of the cable accessed from the trunk. Is there a kind of spring located in the hinge of the door that may have broken? It looks like two little tabs may have broken off on the black plastic piece located in the hinge. Any help would be appreciated.

There's a v-shaped piece that acts a spring that fits into a slot by the door hinge. I replaced mine earlier this year. It's a common problem and it's under $5.00 if I remember correctly.

Is this a dealership item, or is it sold on a website?
Thanks for your help.

I bought it from a local dealer. I don't know if it's available online.

Here's a photo......it should really hook onto the door too but I couldn't get mine to do it. Still works though.
