abs light stays on 96 avalon

after breaking a drive axel and replacing it, the abs light stays on.

is there a way to test the sensor on that wheel?

what is the proper clearance, sensor to ring?

what is the procedure to reset the abs light?

thanking youall in advance, mark.

Both left and right front axle sensor rings and sensors would have the same layout. Compare one side with the other. You may be able to compare ohm readings of left and right sensors and compare. Note: the rear sensors are typically different then the front.

A OBDII scanner might be able to clear the codes. Disconnecting the battery for 90 seconds should clear the codes. Make sure the radio does not have an anti-theft system that triggers if power is removed and if so that the code is not set or you have the code.

Sometimes shock can damage a sensor, have noticed this with mechanics who for some reason start to hammer on the brake area.
