98 AVY Trunk

Is the trunk suppose to pop open all the way without assistance when the trunk release is pressed?

I also have an Autopage XT62 that came with the car but will not open the trunk although the glove box trunk release works. Any thoughts?

The glove box truck release may be hard wired to the trunk latch.

If the trunk is like its sister car the Camry, the lid will just slightly pop up.

Yes, when the trunk is released it only unlatches (pops up).

However there are a set of tension rods that connect the trunk lid arms in the back. These serve to hold the lid in place where ever it is opened too. If they are not positioned right, then opening the trunk lid may require more effort than normal.

Thanx everybody. I had a GM and when you hit the trunk release it popped open completely on it's own. Toyota's trunk relese is a useless feature, a hand full of groceries and you have to strugle to open up the trunk. I wonder how much saki the engineer had before having that epifiny.
