Question So I Was Changing The Lighting In My Interior..... Now I Have Some Questions

So i orderd my LEDs from Superbright. I got them today. Well i decided to do the HVAC first. I had only ordered 3 neo wedge 4mm for the HVAC so i took the radio and replaced what i thought was only 2 LEDs.. I thought 1 LED for the ECT and where the air draws from. Then 1 LED for A/C and rear defrost. Great that took all of about 5 mins to do. I buttoned that back up turned the lights on to make sure that it works. It works except the aire where it draws in from now does not light up? Any idea as to why? so i took it all apart again and took that little box apart that houses the ECT, Where the air draws in from and the A/C and rear defrost button. there is not bulb for for where the air draws in from.. So what now?

Secondly i thoughty well ok, i have 1 more neo wedge bulb left. So i went ahead and took apart the HVAC. i took one green bulb out and put the blue neo wedge LED in. Put it back together and SOB it does not work. So then i was like for shiits and giggles let me put the green bulb back in to rule out that the blue LED is broken. So i put the green one back in hooked it back up so i coule physcially see all 3 bulbs and this time the green one is not lighting now???? So now i am confused. i took it back apart swapped bulbs and nothing. it still does not light up. So i though well let me take a bulb from the top row where you controll the air flow (face, face/feet, feet only.....) so i took that bulb out put it where it was not working which was the temp setting (65 75 85). so i swapped them out plugged it back up and again i could physcially see the bulbs. Now this time the temp setting was lighting up but the source where the air blows is not lighting up I am sooo pissed right now.... i tried taking the bulbs out switching the positions on the grid when it lines up meaning if it did not work one way i took it out rotated it 180* and put it back in and it still did not work...

So wtf is up? Sorry i am mad but i have 2 blue leds that work, where the air draws in from does not light up now, and now i only have 2 out of 3 bulbs for the HVAC working...

Anyone have any ideas at all????????????

That's very odd...The bulb was working before right? I would think maybe a loose wire?

Yeah the bulbs were working as of last night... I hope it is not a wire that came loose for the one of the wiring harnesses

But like i said what does not make sense, If i had a good working bulb that is lighting up the speed of the air (LO . . . HI) and i took that bulb and put it where the temp setting is (65 75 85) and i swapped them so now the temp bulb is where the speed of the air is and visa versa. Then now the temp setting lights up and the speed of the air does not......

Yes i have and it is doing the same thing. if i take light bulb that is already working and swithc it with a side that is not working. The one that is not working when i swithc it to the other spot will work, and the one that is working when i switch it to the spot will not work..

I am at a loss

Ok let me explain again

i ordered 3 4mm neo wedge LEDs.. I thought well i will change the ECT (1 bulb) and A/C-Rear defreost (1 bulb) first. Then with with the last remaining bulb i will change only 1 light in the HVAC and order more....

So i change the ECT and A/C no problem at all. Put it back together, turn the lights on and they work jsut fine. As explained by ChunkyWolf (i think that is his name) the fresh air uses light tubes to get light and the led does not illuminate good enough to do it do it lights up, but very faint

Ok now onto my HVAC... I tore that all apart less than 2 mins.. I took out the stock bulb in the temp. control (65 75 85) and replaced it with my last blue LED. i wanted to test it out to make sure it worked. so i plugged in the 2 orange harnesses tunred the lights on and the the led was not working so to rule out that maybe i had a bad led i put the stock bulb back in turned the lights on that bulb did not work So i was confused as it was jsut working the other night. So ok i though, well let me try a bulb from the ECT or AC that i took out. So i tried BOTH bulbs from the ECT and A/C and both bulbs did not work.. I am frustrated, mad and confused....

So ok i got to thinking, i can physically see when i have the light on that the 2 rows for HVAC are lighting up. So i took out a bulb from the top row (it was working) i put that bulb into the temp setting. And i put a bulb from the ECT, AC into the top row.. I turned the lights on and now the top row of the HVAC is not working, but now the temp setting is

So for some reason the problem is being followed by the bulb i take out..

Did you get that? Was i clear? So i ordered 3 more leds so we will see what happens

I've noticed that the temp bulb is very picky and sometimes just doesn't light unless I slap the HVAC section like a PSone. Also, it may be because the LEDs are polarized, and won't work if installed backwards. Try flipping the bulbs around.

Ok, I'm a bit more awake and that made more sense. So, you have 4 original spare bulbs, correct? 1 from ECT, 1 from defroster and from from temp and 1 from ac. You said you tried one of those, so you only tried 1 of 4 correct? Did the LED work in the top row? Is it possible the 1 you picked up broke or something upon removal? Try every bulb (tiring ya) but maybe with your luck you chose 2 broken ones in a row? =P goodluck!

well i got the rest of my blue LEDs in today. So i swapped the rest of the bulbs into my hvac.. Well i just threw away $30 on leds

in this pic that chunky wolf took of his car, this is how mine turned out. I do not like it. So i will be putting all the oem bulbs back in. That is after i order 3 of them from toyota b/c when i changed them out, all 3 bulbs and all 3 filiments broke

The problem that you have where the lighting is dim is because most LEDs are directional lights (narrow beam of light 100-120 degrees) and the way the HVAC is lit is through those plexiglass pieces that carry the light. You might be able to buy some blue "condoms." That's what I am thinking of doing for the air re-circulation.

Where do you get those from? And how would you get them off the old lights and onto the new lights?

I've seen some condoms sold at parts stores (Murray's, Autozone), but I am not sure if they well have them for bulbs that small. There should be a way make it work, though. I am probably going to look tomorrow.

I also had the problem that I have the manual HVAC (knobs, not buttons), and I bought the twist locks when mine uses the 74 wedge bulbs...so I wasted some money as well.
