Outside temp display

Since I got my 98 XLS the Outside temp display has not been working. The clock and ECT have been lighting up fine however.

I went to the Toyota dealership today to ask what the problem could be and he said the whole unit clock needs to be replaced. This is fine, I just can only find ones from 97 Avalons (eBay). Would they be compatible or not?

Thanks to anyone who responds.

If they are the XLS (XL doesn't have the temperature display) I don't see why not. Try to see if you can get the seller to get you a picture of the rear of the clock to see the connector.

I wonder why it died, I've never seen a LCD display just die like that.
