1996 Avalon XLS Brake Light Problem

Ok......

When pressing the brake, neither side of the rear lights get brighter and just remain a steady red. In other words, the lights are on, but you cant tell when i'm on the brakes.

All the lights work fine otherwise.

I've checked the bulbs and fuses and theyre all ok.

Any ideas?

(also, is this why I cant get out of park without pressing the shift lock override?)

Your two problems, shift lock and brake lamps will rely on the same part.

The brake switch.

Perhaps yours is faulty, have it checked out.
