Brakes!!!

hi everybody! im new to the forums, and i am currently performing a brake job on the rear of my 95 Avalon, i have the calipers, and caliper mounting brackets off, and i CANT get the rotors off?

the left rear was extremely bad, there was no pad left, and the rotor is shot as well, but the right rear was wearing just fine, i've hit both sides with a hammer, to bust them loose, but they will not come off the hub???

can anyone help me out here? i am quite mechanically inclined, i've been working on cars for over 7 years now, and this has me dumbfounded

thanks in advance for any help!!!

Most Toyotas have drilled/tapped holes in the rear rotors - 8mm x 1.25 pitch. If you get a couple bolts and slowly turn them into the holes evenly, the rotors will pop right off.

Get a can of PB blaster or whichever penetrating fluid you prefer. Spray some onto where the wheel studs go through the rotor and where the center of the rotor and the hub meet. Let soak and try hitting it again. If its loose but won't come off, your e-brake shoes may be catching on the inside. Make sure your e-brake is fully released. You can also use a large 3-jaw puller if the rotor will not budge. I had to do this on the rear rotors on a Mercedes E320.

The bolts recommended by Artbuc are the easiest. Otherwise, you need a 5 lb. mallet to hit them on the inside. Or, an 8 inch three jaw puller.

You are replacing the rotors, right?

Most likely the ebrake shoes are catching. Use the ebrake adjustment hole to loosen them up.
