95 Avalon Rack and Pinion Removal?

Does anyone have and directions or tips on doing this to my girlfriend's 95 Avalon? I noticed a leak from the rack and pinion when I changed her rotors and brake pads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I did the R&P on my wife's 97 about two years ago. It was an all-day event, but probably because I did it all myself. An extra set of hands would have helped alot. I just remember having to disconnect a lot of extra parts to get things out of the way, and replacing the tie rod ends. Wasn't too terribly difficult, though. I also have the repair manual, so that helps with getting things put back together if you forget where something goes.

So you want to replace the rack and pinion?...If so, you're goin' to have an air impact wrench, because my brother and i wanted to replace the rack and pinion on mines, But unfortunally we weren't able to loose the bolts, so we had to use an air impact wrench. No matter what you do you won't be able to loose those bolts with a simple socket wrench.

There are many threads here about this topic. I even posted a page or so of notes - so just search the archives for topic and my name...for a start.
