Lightbulb 3M headlight restoration results

I thought I'd share the results of the headlight restoration I did on my gf's Avalon. This was the 3M kit from Wal-Mart. It comes with an electric drill attachment, 500 grit sanding discs, 800 grit, a 3000 grit "Trizact" pad, and a foam polishing pad with polishing compound. It comes with enough to do 2 cars. I did this on my Civic too, and it worked good for it too. They weren't as yellow as these, but it got the scratches out.

She says she can see much better light output since I did this. They certainly look much better. The pictures don't do it justice. These are with, then without flash.

And after:

And a close up shot comparing it to the side marker, which is less than a year old:

Hey thanks for sharing I have been curious about those for awhile. My mother in-law needs this done to her Impala. I noticed you did it on the car, did you have problems with the nooks and crannies? How long did it take?

The only problems are getting around the little knobs. There is a tiny little strip that doesn't get any sanding between them and the edge, but it's not evident. With setting out my chair and gathering all my supplies and taping it off and everything, it took me about 45 minutes. But this was the second time I've done it, so I was familiar with the process. I took the headlights off my Civic and brought them inside to do it on the table. This was probably harder, because I didn't have any way to hold it still while I worked. That headlight assembly is bigger than it looks on the car.
