towng with your 1st gen Avalon

i want to know whether any of you guys tow trailers with your Avalon. i just bought a trailer hitch for my car and i am looking for a trailer to tow my two motorcycles. i would like to know what is the biggest trailer that i can hook up to my car that i can tow safely without major damage to my tranny. im also putting ATF cooler too.

Towing capacity is 2000 pounds with the transmission cooler. So the trailer and both motorcycles have to be less than that.

Your trailer also has to have brakes if you are towing over 750 pounds.

We once towed our utility trailer (loaded) with our Avalon (total weight was around 1800 pounds). The trailer had no brakes and ended up burning up the rear brakes on the Avalon...bad idea.

Make sure the trailer has brakes installed...

Your best bet would probably rent an SUV or Pick-up for when you want to Tow so you don't damage your car.
