Can someone tell me how to get the CEL to blink using a Fused Jumper wire

My friend has a 96 avalon, OBD1. I found a site describing what i want to do on a corolla OBD1 but it's not the same for the avalon. Does anyone know which pins in the DLC to connect the jumper wire to make the CEL Blink? PLease and thank you

All Avalons are OBDII.

It came on the 95's (at least my mother's 95 is OBDII) and was required by law in 96.

Just go to AutoZone or other parts store and they should plug in their reader and give you the code for free.

It cannot have OBDI. The Avalon was launched with OBDII, and in fact the 94 V6 Camry and Lexus ES300 that the Avalon took nearly all its parts from had OBDII.

The Avalon is OBDII Compliant. The access port is in your fuse panel on the drivers side. Pull the fuse panel and the access port is at the top of the fuse box.

Are you trying to pull non engine codes? Are you looking for the data link connector? You need a jumper wire to access the ABS, Trac codes, etc on that one. That connection is right above the ebrake pedal. That is the DL2 connector. That will NOT access the engine codes.

EDIT:

There is also the DL1 connector in the engine bay. It is attached to the intake plenum right above the intake cam. Jump wires TC and E1 to pull the ABS/Traction Control/Cruise control and Airbag codes.

You will need to remove the metal clip that is installed in the connector to read the codes. You will know what I mean when you see it.

To clear those codes turn the ignition to the on position pump the brake 8 or more times with in 3 seconds to wipe the codes.

Hope this helps.

For the Check Engine codes, you will need to pull them with the OBDII code reader and clear them with the reader.
