rear brake adjust

Hello - just had my rear rotors replaced - they were junk - but the new one's didn't pass muster at inspection. The left side was pulling 75% of the right <-> left rear balance.

The guy in the lane had me backup and hit the brakes a couple of time - after I did that he printed out a sheet that was showing me 55 % on the left (and spec was no more than 45% (not 100% sure what the heck is being tested btw).)

Is there some kind of adjustment procedure I need to ask my mechanic to do? Can I do this myself?

(I'm reading about emergency brakes with drums - but these brakes looked like calipers with a drum for the ebrake.)

Uh, what? What guy? Printed out a sheet showing how much brake bias you had side to side? Meausred by what? There is NO adjusment to disc brakes. You may have a caliper pin or piston sticking causing uneven wear.

Yes, the sheet was from the Delaware instpection lanes - they have you pull up on this big scale looking thing and then stop. It orginally showed my right left bias int he rad like 75% to the left - i did some backing up / tapping / mashing the brakes, and it went down to like 55% bias to the right (I have no idea how the backing up did anything - I figure I could go try and back up a couple more times but - wanted to know if there was any other adjustment - looks like from your post it would be lubing / replacing the calipers next.

Backing up releases things, along with tapping and mashing. Your calipers need to be removed, and the slider pins cleaned up and lubed. The other thing to check is your parking brake stuff. Is anything hanging up? Checking the ebrake cables also. Pretty routine maintenance.

Good luck,

Craig
