Thumbs down Transmission Went On Me Today.. 1995 Avalon

I was driving on my way to work going about 50 mph, heard meatal to meatal grinding sound, some clanking and what not. I said ahhhh fvck. I pulled to the side of the road threw that b!tch is P....

Got out of the car, and there are 3 curved plated that house 2 bolts that bolt the axel to the tranny. All the plates and bolts were missing but 1. That was laying on the ground. My axel, the couple portion where it meets in the side off the tranny is just hanging there.

I needed to move my car bc i didnt pull far enough to the right side of the road got out thought I had put my car in N to push out, nope the car was in P and I was pushing it as if the car was in N
My tranny I am assuming is fried? That was the original tranny in my 1995 Avalon with 229K miles on it. So i got it towed tonight to my sister here b/fs brothers shop... Hopefully it will be a cheap fix?????

Sorry to read that. Unless you can get a really good deal, unfortunately it won't be cheap. Tranny repair/replacement never is. The cost may be as much as your car is worth.

You're looking at a cost of at least $1000, if it needs to be replaced (tranny, labor, taxes). If it can be "saved" probably less. See what your technician says and then go from there. Anyway you look at it, be prepared to spend some money if you want to repair it.

Good news, my buddy jsut called me today out of the blue.. Like as if it was Karma...... He is selling his 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited I have ALWAYS wanted this jeep

It is a '98 with 112k on it. In perfect condition... I could not beleive he had called me. I think I am going to take it off his hands. He is asking $2,000 for it..

The only thing is, how are the trannys on the jeeps? He is the 2nd owner. His dad was the first owner.. From '98 till '07, then my buddy drove it from '07 till tomorrow (last day for insurance) It has been in the family and is WELL taken care of....

why would you say that?

My dad used to own a 94 GC Laredo 5.2V8, and he never had any problems with it. The only thing that sucks is the gas mileage. The transmission should be fine if it received necessary maintenance.

95AVALON_GUY:
What size engine does it have?

Maybe it has something to do with the fuel injection. Good that your friend is willling to sell you his Jeep. Sounds like a good deal, though you may be leaving Toyota.
