Most likely it's a balky switch on the door jamb. They get dust 'n' gunk built up inside and start getting intermittent. Look for a black rubber-capped switch just below the door latch on the door jamb (not on the door itself). It stretch fits over the switch; remove it and you should see a single screw holding the switch. Remove the screw and then the switch. It'll have a single wire going into it. The circuit is completed by the switch's attachment to the car body. When you have the switch out, hose it down with WD40 whilst pushing the button in & out a bunch of times. Try to get the WD40 into the interior of the switch; you're trying to clean the contacts inside it. Then clean up any corrosion or crud where the screw mounts and reinstall it.
