Hey guys, my passenger side actuator is not working properly. So after doing my research here, I decided to try purchasing one of those universal door actuators and fit it. But when I took the door panel apart, it appears as though the actuator is mounted right next to the door latch. I cannot see an obvious way to remove it.
Has anyone done this? Pictures? Will a cheap universal actuator install properly?

HELP!!!

You don't remove the old actuator. You piggyback the new "cheap universal" one. There are a couple ways to do this- it depends on what seems easier to you. There is a great thread with pictures on the ClubLexus RX300 forum.
There are 3 screws on the drivers door edge (where the VIN/model number sticker is). Remove the screws and the lock should be free.
There are also a number of actuator rods connected to the lock that need to be disconnected. These are connected at the end with plastic clip. The clip is rotated to allow the rod to pull out of the clip.
The electrical connection needs to be unplugged from the lock.
I mounted the new actuator in a piggy-back fashion leaving the original actuator in place. Because I couldn't get the actuator out to look at which wires were connected to what, I'm having difficulty determining which wires to connect to the new actuator.
I started out trying to wire it to the rocker switch until I realized that there is a control unit for the locks. So I've found what I think are the correct wires, but there are four of them, not two! The wires are green with rust colored blotches, blue, black and yellow with black blotches.
I forget the colors, but the two wires will be the ones which are obviously much heavier than the rest. After you splice, make sure you have the right polarity before buttoning things up.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check the12volt.com for wiring info and use a multimeter! You really don't want to mess around when it comes to electrical systems.

Okay, so there were not really 2 wires that were larger than the others. So I exposed a bit of copper on each wire and tested voltage (nothing really noticeable) and ultimately tried every combination to attach to the new actuator. I got nothing!!! So I'm wondering if there is a problem between the control box and the original actuator, perhaps my actuator is not bad, but just not getting juice?
Anyways, that really doesn't seem right because it failed gradually. This wasn't a one day works, next day doesn't. So I'm kinda stumped here on how to proceed.
