to Toyota Nation!

Which belt are you interested in replacing, one of the fan belts or the timing belt?

I am not sure. I think its the fan belt but it goes from the alternator and then around two other spindles and back to the alternator. From the second spindle, there is another smaller belt that goes to another spindle then back, but that is not the one i am replacing.

if you want to change the alternator belt. you need to loosen the alternator bolt (its a big bolt on top)facing the right fender. then there is a smaller bolt on the side of the alt .facing the front of car.just turn it until the belt is loose.you may need to push on the alt to get it to move.also i recoment buying a haynes manual they have good info and diagrams in them.the avalon is in the camry book.

+1 on the factory service manual. It's well worth the expense for any DIY person.
