Canada Hellllllllllllllllp!

I've got a 1996 Avalon for which i'm trying to find a shifter cable that goes from neutral switch to steering shifter(not center console) and it seems like nobody has that...

I live in Montreal and here, scrap yards will cut that cable when dismantling the car, so they don't even keep it... Hard to believe when i've heard and read about so many shifter cable problems on 1st gen avalons...

Anyone has an idea where i could find that cable for less than the Rip Off cost of my local dealer (430$)???

Any aftermarket? or other solution?

PS: my car is an american car imported in Canada(speedo in miles instead of km)

Sounds like your getting hit pretty hard. I'd be able to get you one. I don't know why your local dealer is asking so much for the cable but I'm showing a list of 292.08

I can sell it for 219 plus whatever shipping would be for you.

There's only 4 left in the country. Let me know and I'd be happy to help you out.

p.s. if your interested, get me your VIN so I can confirm the production date and model.

i don't know what this particular cable looks like. mcmaster-carr sells generic push-pull cables. if you're handy, maybe they could be adapted. can the original be salvaged? a couple of days in a bucket of liquid wrench might loosen it up if its not too badly off.

Well developments are: i went to a friend of mine from the echo-yaris quebec club and we finally ruled out the cable as a problem... it now seems pretty clear to us that it'd be the neutral switch...

Neutral switch has been purchased used on ebay and should be perfect as long as it is as goodlooking as on the picture...

I'll keep you guys posted, thanks for your care and interest in my problem...
