speed sensor issues

I'm replacing the front right speed sensor on my '95 Avalon. I purchased replacement part #970-033 from Dorman. The harness and sensor looks the same as the one that I removed only the sensor does not fit into the hole in the wheel hub. I did not want to apply any force to it as I'm affraid that the sensor will break. The original one snapped off in the hub while removing so I do not have it for comparison. I cleaned the hole and the hub off really well so there is no obstruction. Is there some type of lubricant that I should be using to help get the sensor in? How much force is necessary to get the sensor into the hub? Any advice would be appreciated.
