Mine is about 5 gallons. Almost ran dry (or so I thought) in Northern Virginia on my way to the Outer Banks in NC for Memorial Day. When I filled up I could only get 13.5 gallons in (tank is 18.5 gallons).

A little too excessive for a reserve, don't you think? In fact, every Toyota I've had has had horrid fuel gauge accuracy.

When my fuel guage is directly at E, there is about 2.5 gallons left.

My Mother's '95 comes on after 14 gallons. Tank is 18.5. gallons, so you have at least 4 gallons left (factoring in for dents reducing the capacity of the tank).

Yeah, the 95-99 avalon tank is 18.5 gallons, the 2000-05 is 16.5, and the 05+ is 17.5 if I recall correctly.

The light in my 1996 seems to come on when I have 3 to 3.5 gallons left in the tank. Id imagine others are the same, but when it first comes on it will blink/fade as fuel sloshes around until it gets low enough to light solid, which you can gestimate how much fuel you have left, and how much you can stretch that envelope!'

But ofcourse, if you keep on driving on fumes you remove the fluid around the what used to be submerged fuel pump, causing it to heat up, and be more prone to fail over time.
