i dunno what the fluid you mentioned is. the avalons take dextron (2 or 3). if you use the wrong fluid you risk ruining the trans - completely. look at the fluid you reference and see if it is dextron. if not, i wouldn't...

Well on the bottle it says it is compatible with Dexron II and III, here is the link on Autozone's website. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...ndName=Castrol

Already did, drained about 4 quarts through the drain plug. The transmission is noticeably smoother, and in the next 15k I am going to drop the pan.

changing the filter really made mine right. now i can't tell what gear i'm in, most of the time. that's the way the thing should work - lol - like it or not.

you can't change all of it - there is no drain plug on the torque converter. you can drop the pan, change the filter and about half of it. the bolts for the filter are valve body bolts and really should be torqued to 97 inch pounds when replacing (that aint much!). over-tightening might cause case warpage and then leakage between case and valve body... not good. 1/4 drive inch-pound torque wrench available at harbor freight, for $ 20.

i'll just drain and change what i can for the next 3-4 oil changes. saves $100 or so for a flush with a machine. "be good to your transmission and it will be good to you"

There is still a little bit of jerk between switching gears, but I guess that is probably the mounts.

I was warned to stay away from those transmission flush machines. Just my 2c.

Yeah same here, I did not get a flush just a drain and refill.
