Transmission fluid reading very high

Hey guys

So I just got myself a 96 Avalon-xl with 74k miles and decided to do some fluid changes. When I got to the tranny fluid, it read way over full. About an inch above the hot line, but the old fluid was still red. I proceeded to drain and fill the fluid and it still reads high.

The car was up to temp and i did shift through all gears and the fluid was checked with the car on in P.. Am I missing something or is it sooooo overfilled?

I will drain it out again tomorrow to see why the reading is so high

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you

-Vince

Mine read high too, when I got it, at 85K. I never drained any oil and it never gave me any troubles till the oil started leaking through the cork gasket at 114K. At that time the oil looked terrible (and still read high.)
