changed the rear sway bar bushings today. if ever there was a job my grandma could do (wellll... maybe not jack the car up and put it on stands - lol) this is it. 2 bolts apiece and the rubber cores just flip out and in. i added some moly grease to the bar before the new rubber pieces went back on.
the things cost $9 (for two). it shut the back end up, completely. now i can hear the front - grrrr. fortunately i bought bushings for the front as well
this is a low-cost and high-payoff operation. y'all should do it. seriously.
Where did u get your bushings and what brand are they? mine is making a lot of noise( Both front and rear) and I think I may need to change my CV joints also. Of course since I like cars but know nothing about them , I am nervous about doing it myself...lol
i need to replace the sway bar for my avalon as well...i got a quote of 200 nzd (142 usd) i think i am gonna do it myself but i have no experience on DIY like this...can anyone show me how to.
Thanks
Check out energy suspension bushings. easy upgrade to polyurethane for about the same price. They have more than just sway bar bushings. The sway bar bushings can be had in poly or poly silicone impregnated.
I was looking at energy Suspension, and seeing that there bushings are for 18mm sway bars, then Moog, had 15-16mm, but they both had same year vehicles and both were for the rear! That brings me to ask, What size is the OE bar on the 95 Avalon?

did the front rubber bushings today. unlike the back, this requires some patience and a little skill. i was doing the front brakes anyway (rotors had not been resurfaced since the car was new!). so i got the brake calipers off to the side. i suggest you do, too.
the front bolts can be exposed by turning the wheels. you can get a socket on them. the rear bolts are a PITA. just turn it, one flat at a time...
now she's all but silent as she moves over the bumps. i'll track that last noise down...
an avalon is not a junky car and i can't handle it when it makes noises...
Hey digital mag, don't kill the bringer of glad tidings. If you cured your noise you did well. Boogie, measure your sway bar diameter. These avalons have different sway bars with different diameters. My wife"s 97 's sway bar is 18 mm.

Are you referring to the sway bar or the sway bar bushings?
