Gen1 Help! painting the grill

I am thinking of painting it all black, and then color-match the outer trim. Not sure what color paint the emblem. Any Suggestions?

This is what I'm thinking:

Nice, you think I should color match the emblem?

I'd like to do that too, but I want to paint my grille burgundy to match the car's paint job. Just the shell, not the slats.

I would like to remove the Toyota symbol off the grille as well, but I don't think it's possible without grafting a couple of slats off of another Avalon grille to replace the oval area the Toyota logo occupies.

Maybe just try to find the black Toyota logo that Toyota had as an accessory back then to get closer in color to the grille slats. I don't know if they made those for the Avalon, but I know they did for the Camry. I think they were referred to as the "Black Pearl emblem package" or something similar.

I decided to leave the emblem chromed out so it matches the silver body side trim, and the chrome emblems on the back. Anyways thanks for your helpful ideas. I will post pics once its done. If you do it, please post pics as well.
