Stereo Help

First off i have a 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS.
Alright, so I've hooked everything up for my Sony CDX-GT740UI and im using the metra 70-8112 (
Amazon Amazon
)
Im using that and at first nothing would work, so i checked my fuses and the audio fuse was blown, it was a 15A, i replaced it with a 20A, and now when the ignition is in the off position the stereo turns on, but if i turn the key to ACC, on, or start the engine, the stereo turns off. All my fuses are good and all my wires are connected correctly. Any ideas??

Gen1 hmm

sounds like something is not right with ur wiring? if the radio is coming on with the switch off sounds like u got the 12v constant (for keeping presets and time set) hooked to the switched 12v on the radio side. but the radio should still work no mater what key position its in. Im looking at doing this mod myself so keep us updated

I'd recommend you take a multimeter and check the reading on your +ignition, if it's reading correctly, and hooked up correctly, it may be a faulty head unit. I can't really come up with any other reason as to why the stereo would be working opposite the +ignition.

X2, there is no wire in the stereo loom that becomes charged(hot) when the key is shut off. Atleast there is not supposed to be. If there is, your ignition switch is failing or something else is wrong.
