Trying to do my brakes today and can't get the rotor off. I've read that you have to use a 34756 Lbs hammer to get them off, but this seems to be different.
Oh ya, I snapped all five lugs nuts off with the threads inside of them (front drivers).
If you look in the 5 rotor holes it looks as if the thread and the rotor have welded itself together.
The front brakes were shaking hard before I was trying to change them.
How come all the threads snapped? It took very little force the bust the threads in half. And can you replace just those threads or need a new hub?
Sounds like some monkey with an air wrench tightened the lug nuts WAAAAYYYY too tight!
Yes, the lug bolts can be replaced. You can just hammer them inward. There's a press fit spline that holds them in. When you get the new lug bolts, just use a wrench on a lug nut to pull them into their press-fit holes.
The rotor isn't welded on. Probably just rusty. Spray some penetrating oil on it; like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench. There should be a couple of tapped holes that you can thread a screw into - use them to push the rotor off. I don't recall what thread size they are. Metric, no doubt.
You *do* have the brake caliper removed, right? If not, that needs to come off before the rotor will.

I have sprayed on lots of pb blaster already but I will do some more tonight.
I will try the two screws up front tomorrow on the rotor to see if that helps.

The holes are 8mm x 1.25 pitch thread. You can go to any hardware store and get them. If the threads are filled with dirt and rust, take your time and turn them in a litlle and back out until all is clear. Just a little force on the 8mm bolts will pop off the most stubborn rotor. Please do not beat them with a hammer. It is not necessary and could easily dmaage other parts.

Thanks for the good info. I have read numerous posts online about people using sledgehammers and presses to take them off so I didn't think it would be able to do it with a small screw.

So just to clarify, you're saying to put screws in the two smaller holes on the rotor and put them in slowly so its pushing against the hub? and it will separate the two? its as easy as that ?

Yep! It is the power of the inclined plane. Alternate between the two 8mm bolts and she will pop right off. Again, make sure the threads are cleaned out before you apply too much torque.
