SL Solenoid

Hello from Atlanta, Trying to check the electrical connector for the SL (lockup for torque converter- Code 773) connector on a 97 Avalon. Anyone have an under the hood photo showing its location on the outside of the tranny? Thanks in advance.

Thanks to Brian R's post, I believe I found the correct schematic covering the location of the electrical connection for the solenoid(s). I was thinking there would be individual locations on the outside of the tranny for each solenoid, rather than just the one shown. I believe the correct wire is the pink w/blue stripe for the SL Solenoid, and I can now check the wire from here back to the ECM connection to make sure it's good before I go thru pulling the valve body.

The valve sticks periodically. If the trans fluid hasn't been changed in awhile I'd start there. The electrical connection sometimes cruds up or vibrates loose. You could try the wiggle test or simply remove, clean and replace before tearing things apart.

what you need to do is check the pin in the white (smaller) plug for continuity. if the resistance to ground is infinite, the thing is dead. the computer looks for continuity, at startup. it throws the code, if outside resistance parameters.
