1998 Toyota Avalon occasionally doesn't start

All:
For the past few months, my 1998 Toyota Avalon occasionally would not start. I went to my local Firestone and they installed a new starter. A few hours afterwards, the same thing is happening again. What could this be?
My Avalon has almost 92K miles on it; and, I rarely use it since I am out of work. Any ideas?

Yes, I had the AAA guy check everything out Sunday and the Firestone people check things out today before he installed a new starter.

if it won't crank, it could be the ignition switch or the relay, or a bad battery. anything click when you turn the key? do the headlights go out?
