headliner

OK so here we go. the headliner is fallen in my car, now JUST THE FABRIC part. So i went to autoparts store andgot some headliner glue crap. since there is no tears in the liner i had to cut it and try to spray this crap in there and wait 5mins and then try and hold the head liner up but needless to say its not going well. ill put some pics up later.

So does anyone have any tips/tricks for doing this or would it be jsut better taking to a shop and haveing it done. im a tall guy and its getting annoying.

ill get pics up soon.

What product are you using? 3M Super 77 spray adhesive works really well. Expensive, but worth every penny. It pays to do it on a humid day too, as the temperature plays a big role with how it sticks. You could always call up a shop and get some free advice over the phone. I'm sure they'd have a few tricks up their sleeves.

i screwed it up lol

well i screwed it up got to much adhesive and when i pressed the fabric up it soaked it now i have a big white spot on the thing lol its really stuck up there LOL so it workes but looks like crap lol so i think ill jsut call and get estiments on getting it replaced now. with all the issues that keep creeping up at 199695 miles im starting to think about selling it or tradeing it in.

so far since i have had the car.

replaced front brakes and rotors
replaced rear brakes and one caliper
tried fixing headliner that didnt go so good lol
engine smells like its running "rich"
done all fluids

for $2200 the car has been good just alot of little things so i wonder if i should try getitng my $2200 out of it and moving up to a newer avalon............

Years ago, about 15, I had the headliner replaced in a Chevy for the same reason at an automotive upholstery shop. It only cost $100. I'm sure it'd be more now, but worth looking into.
